The Corsicana Tigers Varsity first-inning burst enough to top Wichita Falls, 12-1
A seven-run explosion in the first inning led the Corsicana Tigers Varsity to a 12-1 win in five innings over Wichita Falls at Denton Ryan Tournament on Thursday.
The Corsicana Tigers Varsity scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Corbin Hall, a passed ball, a fielder’s choice, a two-run error, a wild pitch, and a hit by pitch.
Eric Maler looked sharp on the hill. Maler held Wichita Falls hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
The Corsicana Tigers Varsity were sparked by Jackson Kennemore andLayton Wolver, who teamed up for three hits and three RBIs.
Corsicana Tigers Varsity closer Ryan Vadasy put away the final six outs to record the save.
The Corsicana Tigers Varsity put up one more run in the top of the fourth when struck out.
The Corsicana Tigers Varsity tacked on another four runs in the fifth. A ground out scored Zach Mahoney to get the Corsicana Tigers Varsity on the board in the inning.
