Last week the Tigers kicked off its 2017 sports year with the annual Meet the Tigers. This year’s varsity cheerleader squad was first to be presented. Mrs. Johnson talked about how the cheerleaders are ready to help cheer on the Tigers this fall during our football games.

After the cheerleaders finished, the first sports team was introduced. It was the varsity cross country team. Their coach is Coach Rodriguez. He said he was very proud of his team’s accomplishments last year and that his goal this year is to make it to state. Their first match was last week in Waxahachie early in the morning. Following the Cross Country was the Volleyball team. Coach Grace was excited for the future of the volleyball program. The varsity team won the Fairfield tournament and the placed fourth out of forty-two teams in the Richardson tournament. Their first home game is tomorrow. The Varsity tennis was announced next, and they were fresh off the court. They had just got done playing some matches. Coach White was proud of his group of kids and their commitment to the sport.

Finally, the Football team was presented. Coach Hoffman started off with the Freshman and Junior Varsity Team. Finally, he announced the Varsity team. Each team last year won district titles (Varsity were co-district champs). Last Friday the football program had a scrimmage at North Crowley High School. Freshman and JV won their first game last night. Varsity’s first game is tonight at 7:30.

Meet the Tigers ended with the Varsity victory cheer and the singing of our Alma Mater. Corsicana is looking like it will have a great season this year in sports!
