Rihanna’s song was schooled to play on last Thursday night’s NFL game. After the suspension of the Baltimore Ravens star Ray Rice, CBS dropped the celebratory opening for its new package of N.F.L. games in favor of pregame coverage of the breaking news, along with commentary about domestic violence. Included in the original opening was backing music from a rendition of “Run This Town,” a song by Jay Z, featuring Kanye West and Rihanna. Earlier this week, Rihanna sent out posts assailing CBS for withdrawing the song, saying, “Now you wanna slide it back this Thursday. NO.” She used a vulgar expression in criticizing the network and called it “sad for penalizing me like this.”
