Advisory is an advantage
In spite of my doubts about the schedule change, I have found that I really enjoy the shorter classes and eight period day. One of my favorite things about the new schedule is the advisory class. Advisory is great for club and organizational meetings and for UIL teams to practice, allowing students to go home or go to tutorials or practices immediately after school. Because I’m involved in band and other extracurricular activities, it used to be very hard to balance everything without being up until midnight every night. With the new advisory period, I have extra time to work on assignments and work with my World Quest team. With students who have such busy schedules, it’s wonderful to have time built in to the school day to meet and work on the things that are important to us.
